Write a short note on-the role of women in Nationalist Struggle?
- Women actively participated in the nationalist struggle like France, Germany, Italy etc.
- Women formed their own associations, newspapers and take part in political meetings and demonstrations during 1830 and 1848 revolutions.
- Liberty is personified as a woman e.g. Marriane and Germania. Despite that they were given little or no political rights like those of men. It was only in 1928 when women were given same voting rights as of men in England.

The issue of extending political rights to women was a controversial one within the liberal movement, in which large number of women had participated actively over the years. Women had formed their own political association, founded newspapers and taken part in political meetings and demonstrations. Despite this they were denied suffrage during the election of Assembly. When the Frankfurt Parliament convinced in the church of St. Paul, women were admitted only as observers to stand in visitor's gallery.
