Brief note on "Giuseppe Mazzini", "Greek war of Independence" 10th Class History:


1. Write a short note on Giuseppe Mazzini :

Giuseppe Mazzini was an Italian revolutionary born in Genoa in 1807. He became member of secret society of carbonari. He was against Monarchial system in Italy. He is regarded as the "spiritual force" behind the Italian unification. He started the moments known as "young Italy" and "young Europe in association with his companion Garibaldi. Mazzini inspired the youth to fight for freedom and unification of Italy. His relentless opposition to Monarchy frightened the conservatives. Metternich described him as the most dangerous enemy of existing social order.

Mazzini and his "young Italy" failed to achieve unification of Italy. But his efforts inspired the people of whole Europe to fight for freedom. 



2. Write short note on the Greek war of independence:

 The Greek war of independence was a war waged by the Greek revolutionaries against ottoman empire (Turkey) from 1821 to 1832. Between the 15th and the 17th centuries, Turkey had established its control on many Balken states and Greece was one among them. Greeks in order to cast off the slavery of the Sultan of Turkey, first of all revolted in 1821 AD, but the revolt was soon put down by the ottomans. At many places Christians were brutally killed, England, France and Russia helped the Greek  in 1827 AD, to defeat the Sultan. Finally the Sultan was forced to sign the treaty of Constantinople of 1832 which recognised the Greece as independent nation.
